American beverage lovers of a certain age will probably remember how fun gas station drinks were in the early 2000s. Companies like Sobe, Snapple, and Mystic released ambitious drinks with colorful packaging, unexpected fruit flavors, and enough herbal remedies to fill up a spice rack. This may sound familiar because the last few years have arguably presented another golden age of fun beverages, though they’re more likely to show up at Whole Foods than 7-Eleven these days—or, in this case, Sprouts. In a new release for the grocery store chain, Fortnight Collective helped Mortal Kombucha channel those glory days of Y2K soda with eclectic aluminum bottles that look kind of like if Keith Haring did a collab with Fruitopia.
