Something about the ballpark brings out the best, worst, and most creative in folks. And one year ago, the internet was buzzing over an ingenious adaptation of a hot dog when he was caught on camera by NY-based director Nicolas Heller of New York Nico fame using the meat tube as a beer straw.
To celebrate this momentous occasion in sausage innovation, Oscar Mayer has announced the “Hot Dog Straw,” which looks like a hollowed-out frankfurter and comes packaged in a bag similar to multipacks, including a yellow, red, and white label (and created in collabration with agency Johannes Leonardo). Unlike the Yankees fan caught sipping his pilsner through processed flesh, Oscar Mayer’s straw is reusable, made of food-grade silicone, and doesn’t impart a meat flavor onto the beer.
