Malafronte Stretches Italian Tradition Into a Fresh Look

Malafronte has been baking in Gragnano since 1906, a town near Naples that is so closely associated with Italian food production that it is widely known for its centuries-old pasta-making tradition. Its grissini, the long, crisp Italian breadsticks, become the clever foundation of the brand’s packaging system, designed by Nju Design.

Smaller character illustrations by Antonio Bianchino add a loose, midcentury Italian editorial character, while the lettering keeps a connection to classic Italian food packaging. Instead of leaning on rustic textures and familiar bakery imagery, Malafronte turns a traditional Italian breadstick into a world of products transformed into simple visual icons.
