The Body Shop To Install Refill Stations In Nearly Half Of US Locations In 2022

Last summer, global beauty brand The Body Shop set an ambitious goal of rolling out refill stations for a range of its products in 500 stores in 2021 and an additional 300 locations in 2022. The Body Shop has recently updated its refill station targets, promising to offer the program in 49% of US locations by the end of the year.
The UK-based brand’s refill stations include shower gels, shampoos, conditioners, and hand washes, with selection varying by location. Customers purchase an aluminum bottle which they bring back for refilling by The Body Shop staff. For many retailers in the beauty and bath sector, in-store refills present brands with a viable and sustainable alternative to single-use plastic bottles.
The bottle has a metallic finish with a plastic green pump top, The Body Shop logo, and “Refill” inside a green box, followed underneath in smaller sizes “Reuse,” then “Repeat” three times.
“The foundation of The Body Shop's environmental activism was born out of ideas like these, when our founder, Dame Anita Roddick, refilled her first bottle out of necessity in 1976,” said Hilary Lloyd, North America vice president of marketing and values for The Body Shop, in a press release. “Our customers have been eagerly awaiting for refills to return to The Body Shop. We're thrilled to be embracing a circular economy approach and provide this sustainable alternative.”
You can find US locations with refill stations on The Body Shop’s website.
