Vacation By Poolside.fm Is Making Sunscreen Cool With An 80s Twist

There's something inherently dorky about sunscreen. If you're a social media aficionado, you might have seen the viral videos where people discuss how certain things like bringing an umbrella into elementary school made you feel like a complete nerd even though it's something so, I don't know, normal? Somehow, applying sunscreen exudes that same sense of unnecessary embarrassment that it just shouldn't.
Incidentally, skin cancer is the most common cancer across the globe.
Thankfully, Poolside.fm, a viral internet radio station created by Marty Bell, has created Vacation, a new brand of sunscreen that's "leisure enhancing" and rids sunscreen of any associations to "uncoolness." The collection was created in collaboration with Miami sunscreen entrepreneurs Lach Hall and Dakota Green, alongside Dr. Elizabeth Hale, Board Certified Dermatologist and a VP of The Skin Cancer Foundation.
This brand is everything you think of when you hear the word "summer." Think 80's beach culture, bananas, coconuts, and itsy-bitsy bikinis. The scent of the product itself has been dubbed "the scent of summer," with notes of pool water, inflatable pool toys, and speedo lycra. The scent was developed by Carlos Huber, of ARQUISTE Parfumeur, and Rodrigo Flores-Roux, the perfumer behind iconic scents such as Clinique's "Happy" and Tom Ford's Neroli Portofino. It exudes a vintage feel, but it's created with modern science and technology - the best of both worlds for sun care and protection.
The design of the packaging itself is exceptionally thoughtful. The color palette, inspired by the sun and water, is rightfully blue and yellow. The designers artfully chose the color combination to exude a sense of fun and functionality reminiscent of nostalgic sunscreen packaging. The main font is Benton Modern, an 80's inspired font that oozes with gnarly tubular vibes, and the palm tree is the perfect detail on the front of the bottle as it adds a feeling of nostalgia and links back to the authentic roots of Poolside.fm's roots.
Sunscreen is no longer uncool, thanks to Vacation. You might even find me wearing this sunscreen when the sun isn't even shining; it smells that good.
