Truffle hot sauce sounds like some next-level condiment action, and that’s just what LA-based branding and design agency Colony created for Truff:

“Truff Hot Sauce approached Colony with a bold idea. Take hot sauce, add black truffles ,and create a completely unique flavor profile. This elevated approach to hot sauce had never been seen before in this space, so we set out to create a packaging system distinctive to this category.

Using the hero ingredient as a design element, we created a geometric truffle mark that eventually became the custom bottle top, representing the product differentiator and furthering the brand story. Complementing the custom form factor with clean type and subtle foil application, we created a package that had the tactile experience the team was looking for, individuality to align with the product formulation, and visual impact to read in small images and the digital environment.”

Our first step in the process was determining the communication strategy and creating a point of view that worked with a predominantly digital marketing plan. Leveraging their past experience in street culture and marketing, the founders were planning a launch focused heavily on Instagram so the limitations of social media and e-commerce were key drivers in the approach. We also had to account for a diverse target audience, ranging from foodies and professional chefs to the occasional hot sauce user.”
