Student Week: Juniper Is A Gin Inspired By Drunken And Ungovernable People

Published

Lesly Linares’ Juniper packaging design was inspired by the berry that often gives Gin its unique flavor. The packaging design for the spirit is traditional through intricate illustrations and a classic-inspired typeface. Yet, the green hues and comical context create a more contemporary approach. While simple, the design feels well thought out, and the oval label creates a visually well-rounded design.

The project “Juniper” is a label design for a gin bottle. Juniper is a berry used to make gin. But this simple berry caused mayhem in England during the first half of the 18th century called the Gin Craze. There was a large consumption of gin specifically in London which was difficult for the government to control as it was a great public concern.
