Halloween is one of America’s favorite holidays, and it’s easy to see why. Not only do kids and adults dress up in their favorite ghoulish costumes, but candy is bountiful and freely exchanged as children go door-to-door to trick-or-treat. It’s also the one time a year where giving out candy to kids isn’t viewed as being overly creepy.
However, every October or so, some police agencies put out press releases and communications warning parents that candy infused with cannabis exists and that the packaging is so similar to straight candy that your child might end up eating drugs. Dispatches like this from reporter Jaclyn Lee at Philadelphia ABC affiliate WPVI will populate social media feeds, repeating what agencies like the Bensalem Police say.
And then the reporter gets ratioed because they should really, really know better.
