For Gretchen’s Garden Goodies, we wanted spring to feel less like a polite pastel and more like a little mischief in the garden. This limited-edition collection brings together three seasonal truffle bars, Dirt Pile, Mint Green Thumb, and Cherry Bomb, alongside Spring Mix, an 8 oz bonbon mix, and the Hoppy Easter Basket gift set. Rather than create a single spring SKU, we built a full seasonal world that could move across self-treating, sharing, and gifting while staying rooted in longer days, things in bloom, and garden-party energy.

At Maeve, we believe chocolate should bring more color, personality, and delight to the aisle. Gretchen’s Garden Goodies gave us the chance to push that instinct into spring, building a collection that feels bright, unruly, and cheerful without losing product clarity. The result is a packaging system that lets each flavor have its own point of view while still belonging unmistakably to the same seasonal chapter.

1. Creativity

Creativity in this project comes from how specifically we interpreted spring. We did not want generic flowers and a few soft colors. We wanted muddy boots, overgrown herbs, cherries showing off, and the kind of warm-weather optimism that makes you peel off a jacket and stay outside longer than you planned. Dirt Pile turns dark chocolate, mini chocolate chips, crunchy cookies, and cacao nibs into a dirt-inspired bite. Mint Green Thumb reimagines mint as a whole-garden takeover with a dark chocolate shell and cool mint center. Cherry Bomb pairs a milk chocolate shell with a white chocolate cherry center for a brighter, bloom-season flavor story. Spring Mix extends that world into a spring assortment designed around gardens at their most joyful.

2. Marketability

Marketability is one of this collection’s clearest strengths. Gretchen’s Garden Goodies was designed to work across multiple spring purchase moments, from individual truffle bars to a bonbon mix and a larger gift set. That range allows the collection to function as an impulse treat, a host gift, an Easter basket add-on, or a more complete spring gifting moment. By extending one coherent seasonal story across bars, bonbons, and gifting, the collection becomes easier to merchandise, easier to shop, and more flexible for different customer needs.

3. Innovation

Innovation here lives at the system level. This project was not about reinventing structure. It was about building a seasonal packaging world that stretches across several product types without losing its voice. The same concept holds whether someone buys Dirt Pile for themselves, picks up Spring Mix for a spring table, or chooses the Hoppy Easter Basket as a gift. That consistency allows the collection to feel bigger than a flavor drop and more like a complete spring experience.

4. Execution

Execution was about keeping the collection cohesive while giving each SKU room to be its own character. Across Gretchen’s Garden Goodies, we used Maeve’s art-forward packaging approach to let flavor names and concepts do real storytelling work. Dirt Pile, Mint Green Thumb, and Cherry Bomb are distinct enough to spark curiosity on their own, but together they read as one bright, slightly cheeky spring lineup. Spring Mix and the Hoppy Easter Basket extend that same tone into larger-format gifting. The strength of execution is in carrying one clear seasonal idea across multiple formats with consistency, charm, and strong shelf presence.

5. On-Pack Branding

On-pack branding is where this project gets to have fun while staying legible and commercially clear. Maeve remains the consistent masterbrand, while each product name does heavy narrative lifting at first glance. Dirt Pile, Mint Green Thumb, and Cherry Bomb are fast, memorable, and emotionally specific. They signal immediately that this is not a generic spring chocolate line. This approach builds on Maeve’s broader brand direction of bringing color and artistic design to the chocolate aisle while giving spring a distinct voice within the larger Maeve world.

6. Sustainability

Sustainability is part of the broader Maeve packaging approach this collection lives within. Across the brand, our packaging is designed to be either recyclable or compostable, depending on the instructions on pack. We are also a fully carbon neutral company, and we have transitioned our bonbon wraps to compostable materials. Gretchen’s Garden Goodies was created within that larger system, allowing the collection to participate in our ongoing environmental commitments while delivering a highly expressive seasonal experience.

Overall, Gretchen’s Garden Goodies is our way of making spring feel specific, flavorful, and impossible to ignore. We took familiar seasonal cues and gave them more personality: dirt under the nails, mint overtaking the garden, cherries arriving like they own the place, and a chocolate lineup designed to move easily from everyday treat to giftable moment. For us, the success of the project is in turning a limited-edition spring collection into a world people can instantly understand, remember, and want to step into.
