Premixed cocktails are popular in part because they don’t require buying all the ingredients to make one or two drinks. Depending on the recipe, a drink might require one (or several) juices, bottles of premixes, often expensive spirits and liqueurs, and perhaps a bottle of bitters that will sit around forever. Ready-to-drink (RTD) cocktails, however, are self-contained, and consumers can buy a variety of cocktails to keep on hand.
But hauling all those cans can be inconvenient, and if you’re having a party, you may need fridge space, ice, or a big ol’ cooler. What’s more, there’s no way to turn them into alcohol-free mocktails.
