cultural icon – through the lens of design, art and sugarmaking.

From the designer’s perspective, maple sugar is a challenging medium.
It is similar to other materials that are heated, tempered and cast
into moulds but as every sugarmaker knows, maple has a mind of its own
when it comes to colour and texture. Marbled veins, white flecks appear
during crystallization making each as unique as the tree that provided
its sap.”
