Human’s packaging design for Gran Maizal encapsulates the essence of a modern whisky with a 5,000-year heritage. A groundbreaking approach is evident in the primary label, where corn leaves are ingeniously employed. The secondary label, crafted from Fibers paper, adds an artisanal touch, enhancing the tactile connection to the product. The incorporation of terracotta vessels, used for whisky aging, into the bottle neck through an innovative mud-based process not only underscores the craftsmanship but also serves as a visual homage to the traditional methods.
Modern whisky 5,000 years in the making / Gran Maizal is a corn whisky made with ancient varieties from the Yucatan Peninsula including the oldest recognized lineage in the scientific community: Nal T’eel. The entire bottle serves as a testament to the Gran Maizal process. For the primary label we implemented an innovative process in the spirits industry in the use of corn leafs, a practice never employed before, for the secondary label we carefully chose a Fibers paper to enhance the artisanal feel.
