Gillette Launches Planet KIND, A Slightly More Sustainable Line Of Personal Care Products

by Rudy Sanchez on 03/04/2021 | 2 Minute Read

Personal care brand Gillette has announced its new line of products, Planet KIND, which aims to be gentle on the skin and the environment. Free of parabens, SLS sulfate, alcohol, and dyes, the packaging is recyclable, made from 85% recycled paper, 85% recycled plastic, or infinitely recyclable aluminum.

“Planet KIND makes it easier to incorporate eco-friendly choices into your shaving and skincare routine,” said John Claughton, VP of North America grooming at P&G, in a press release. “We know consumers are looking for sustainable products that are kind to skin and don’t want to compromise on performance. Our Planet KIND products are designed with this in mind and are backed by a brand people already know and trust.”

The recyclable packaging has a flecked, light blue background, and the brand says that it can get recycled curbside. You can also send your razor cartridges back via the Gillette Razor Recycling Program in partnership with TerraCycle, which collects them from any brand or company.

Besides the materials used, Gillette also adds sustainability to the KIND line with razor blades that promise to deliver close shaves for a month. Of course, that draws the obvious headscratcher-why not make all blades last a month? Handles are made to last for years and consist of 60% rPET.

Finally, Gillette will fund Plastic Bank with proceeds from Planet KIND sales. Every purchase will prevent ten plastic bottles from reaching the ocean through Plastic Bank’s global efforts. Planet KIND is available now at PlanetKINDbyGillette.com, at Target stores, and Target.com.
