As the response to coronavirus intensifies, and people around the world begin to face a new, less social world that most everyone hopes are a short term reality, governments around the globe have also started taking measures to help mitigate the spread of and death due to COVID-19, which to date, they have mostly aimed at triaging the economy, offering guidance on how to avoid contagion, and mandating social distancing.

Although some governments have the ability to compel certain industries to produce much-needed goods in a time of national emergency (such as the US through the Defense Production Act), so far, businesses have voluntarily offered to help.
