Louise Fili has made a career out of creating custom logos for restaurants and specialty food packaging. But rather than employing existing fonts, the president of Louise Fili Ltd. draws on a wealth of historical sources in a collection of rare artifacts to create identities with hand-lettering and custom typography. She also commissions impressionistic and expressionistic art to evoke packaging that is at once vintage and contemporary.

In addition to running Louise Fili Ltd., Louise is also a frequent speaker for AIGA groups, the DSVC, Type Directors Club and The School of Visual Arts. She is the author or co-author of Italian Art Deco, Dutch Moderne, Typology, Design Connoisseur, Scripts: Elegant Lettering from Design’s Golden Age and more. She has been inducted into the Art Directors’ Hall of Fame.
