In 1953, American entrepreneur Frank Dorsa invented frozen waffles, changing the breakfast game as we knew it. Frozen waffles spared hungry folks the hassle of whipping up batter, heating a waffle griddle, and eagerly waiting for deliciousness. Now, when we want waffles in the morning—or any time, really—we can pull some fully cooked waffles from the freezer and reheat them in the microwave or toaster.
Dorsa’s food company, which also made other items like potato chips, was called Eggo. This brand name would become synonymous with frozen waffles.
