- It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia co-stars Glenn Howerton, Rob McElhenney, and Charlie Day have launched an Irish American whiskey called Four Walls.
- Inspired by Irish American dive bars, the identity comes from creative studio Rest Stop and draws on heritage beer and spirits brands.
It’s easy to dismiss most celebrity spirits brands as mere money grabs from folks who don’t really know much about the category. But a whiskey brand from the stars of the hit TV show It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia seems more credible.
Four Walls is described as an American Irish whiskey. The spirit is a blend of grain and malt Irish whiskeys from Great Northern Distillery with American rye from Cedar Ridge, Iowa, and the three co-founders, Glenn Howerton, Rob McElhenney, and Charlie Day, call it a “better brown.” The whiskey itself is an homage to the “four walls” (hence the name) that bring people together: the bar.
Given that three founders have played Irish dive bar owners on It’s Always Sunny for 2 decades, it’s unsurprising that Four Walls’ brand identity and packaging, designed by Rest Stop, take cues from the same kinds of real-life watering holes.
