This is not your dad’s lager. Lock & Dam Lager is a rich copper lager that is the perfect reward to enjoy at the end of a hard day’s work. Colle+McVoy developed the packaging and branding to channel the industrious attitude of those from the late 1800s and 1900s.

“Inspired by the Mississippi River and the hard working lock and dam system that powered the original Grain Belt brewery, this new brew combines old-world techniques with a hint of hops to bring the traditional American lager into the 21st century. Grain Belt beer is an iconic American beer brand steeped in 125 years of history. Colle+McVoy helped name Lock & Dam Lager and then designed everything from bottle caps to billboards in a modern way.”

Lock & Dam Lager is an impressive and bold beer that recognizes the tradition in brewing delicious beer but also appeals to today’s discerning beer drinker. Black, white, and gold combine to feel regal yet also highlight the history of machinery and man-made devices. Splashes of red pop and help bring out the hue of the amber bottle. The original dam system is featured on the front of the label, standing tall and proud, and small details like the glistening bottle cap or the neck label with a drop of beer pouring from the tap tie the look together.
