For young girls, the journey into womanhood can be a daunting one. betty For Schools, an organization dedicated to helping girls and boys learn about periods, recently polled 2,000 women and discovered that 46% of them had used their period as an excuse to skip gym class. The top reasons? Fears of leaking or that their sanitary pad might be visible or slip if they were exercising.
Now, betty has developed a blog, an app and subscription service to help fight the stigmas surrounding periods and give young girls the boost in confidence they need.
To assist in branding and design, It’s A Monthly Thing, betty’s parent company, brought on Straight Forward Design, a London-based design agency, to create positive packaging that is both informative and communicates the practicalities of having a period, from social and personal implications to the physical and emotional developments one undergoes.
