In 1947 Topps introduced Bazooka Joe gum, but it wasn’t until 1953 that the company started including comics starring the eye-patched scamp and his friends. For decades the cheap bits of hard chewing gum and accompanying graphic tales of mischief provided kids that sweet dopamine hit that’s been largely supplanted by digital stimuli today.

Grooming company Harry’s is likewise playing the analog game, and they recently introduced mystery items. Now, for $5, customers can add a surprise to their order. These products come handpicked for the customer based on their shopping history, so they never get the same item twice. With the Mystery Item becoming a certifiable hit, but Harry’s decided to improve on the experience, replacing the original plain sealed pouch with a Bazooka Joe inspired comic, hinting at what’s inside.
