Looking to do something totally different than what’s already out there, Colateral Advanced Marketing developed the packaging for El Golfo de México with a new perspective. Using a bit of maritime inspiration, this is a mezcal unlike any other.
“We gave this drink a marine concept even though we knew this could lead to a misunderstanding of our product, since this idea is more likely to be found on a bottle of rum, but also knowing that this was going to make it so unique. So, we took the risk, and bet on it being the first authentic brand of mezcal to use these elements as part of its identity. Keeping this in mind, we started brainstorming some good ideas and different branding proposals, until we got our final name: El Golfo de México, which evokes geographically to the Mexican Gulf, and to a fictional character who is an interpretation of men who enjoy life, having fun, and sometimes being a rascal too.”
“Having this, we came up with a character and its own graphic identity, which we later adapted to the bottle itself, and to the box that carries this bottle, so that when stacked one next to the other they would build a graphic atmosphere.”
