PepsiCo Introduces Neon Zebra, Its First Line Of Cocktail Mixers

Being your own bartender can feel a bit like playing rocket scientist, especially when it comes to measuring out ingredients or muddling herbs just so. One false move can spell disaster in the form of an aggressively sweet concoction or, worse, a boozy egg white-filled glass of shame. And that's why we have cocktail mixers—some of us aren’t naturally gifted mixologists.
Well, now you have a new cocktail mixer to play around with. Yesterday, PepsiCo launched their first-ever line of non-alcoholic mixers. Dubbed Neon Zebra, this vibrant and playful brand offers a genuine shortcut for those who want a drink in a manner of seconds. With four flavors—Margarita, Strawberry Daiquiri, Mojito, and Whiskey Sour—each 7.5oz mini-can makes two cocktails without all the artificial sweeteners. Just add a splash of your favorite spirit, and voila.
With branding and a visual identity from PepsiCo Design + Innovation, the team crafted a bold and zany world for their zebra mascot, complete with textures and 3-D typography. The arched type at the top of the can is a clear nod to retro cocktail culture, a hint that this is a damn-near European adult beverage that feels like summer. Add in the playful illustration of the zebra whose stripes change given the flavor variant, and you have a fun, approachable brand.
“PepsiCo is laser-focused on quickly delivering new innovations that meet consumer needs and capitalize on opportunities in the marketplace,” said Matthieu Aquino, vice president of design, global beverage, and brand experience. “With Neon Zebra, we took a design-led approach to the brand development, building a wild visual world to convey the simplicity and distinction of the product attributes, ultimately delivering a disruptive and memorable experience for consumers.”
The brand launches this March nationwide, so watch out for tipsy zebras.
