Zamalek is a Ready-to-Drink (RTD) brand from Montreal, Canada. The brand makes beverages using the hibiscus flower, including a drink inspired by the Egyptian karkade, a sparkling version, a hibiscus and ginger combination, and “Zam Cola,” a blend of cola and hibiscus. Additionally, Zamalek produces an iced black tea with lemon and hibiscus.

The name “Zamalek” comes from a part of Cairo, Egypt, known for its museums, gardens, and other cultural points of interest. Founder Jules Croubalian Leuba’s family lived in Zamalek after being displaced from Armenia after WW1, where his mother would make karkade. The recipe stayed in the family, and Jules grew up with his mother making it at home
After moving to Montreal, Jules resorted to purchasing his own supply of hibiscus flowers to brew his beloved karkade.
