Walmart Modernizes Its Brand Identity With Help From JKR

Mega retailer Walmart has unveiled a brand refresh, the first significant update since 2008, when the company ditched the hyphen and star between “Wal” and “Mart” in favor of a spark.
Walmart’s refresh, undertaken with the design folks at JKR, retains the bright yellow spark, albeit with subtle changes meant to make the logo feel “approachable and less rigid.” The new logo is rounder, tighter, and, most significantly, unanchored from the “Walmart” wordmark.
