There is currently a global waste crisis going on, and within that, containers and packaging have been making up a major portion of municipal solid waste, accounting to nearly 80.1 million tons of generation in 2017. Today, 40 % of plastic waste comes from single use packaging on a global scale. Unable to handle waste within a nation, plastic waste is being shipped throughout countries that are not equipped to safely and securely manage it.
