Procter & Gamble, one of the world’s largest consumer goods companies, has announced that it will begin selling two deodorants in plastic-free packaging.
The announcement, timed for the 50th anniversary of Earth Day, details the roll-out of the new deodorants, part of P&G’s strategy for meeting their sustainability goals, which includes using 100% recycled materials for all packaging and a 50% reduction in the use of virgin plastic by 2030.
Launching in May as a Walmart exclusive, the paper packaging is made from 90% recycled paper and certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). The rolls feature a “push-up” design and will come in 2 brands and scents, Old Spice “Cedar and Salt” and Secret “Rose and Germanium.” Both varieties are also aluminum-free.
