Perro Verde Mezcal’s packaging by S&Co leans into restraint. The tall green glass reads botanical and signals agave. The typography is authoritative, stacked in an inverted orientation, while subtle etched illustrations evoke woodcut maps and pre-modern printmaking, hinting at land and process without narrative overload.

Perro Verde is a Los Angeles–based mezcal brand founded by two mezcal enthusiasts and guided by fifth-generation mezcalero Don Porfirio Chagoya, with actor Benicio del Toro recently joining as an investor. Using rare agave varieties and small-batch production, the brand is rooted in cultural heritage, craftsmanship, and respect for traditional mezcal-making.
The brand set out to balance mezcal’s authentic, artisanal origins with a presence in the luxury market, redefining luxury through rarity, process, and cultural depth rather than excess. Its identity reflects this approach through unconventional symbolism and design, including a bottle inspired by the phrase “rarer than a green dog,” a nahual motif representing individuality, and typography that blends classic and modern influences. Together, these elements position Perro Verde as a mezcal that honors tradition while embracing a refined yet untamed spirit.
