Offbeat, Artful Design Details Give Bayari Wines a High-End DIY Feel

Is Bayari Wines hiding something? There’s a lot of details on the bottle scribbled out on the label, which could mean a few things: censorship, secrets, or—most fitting for the brand name—pure carelessness. The name comes from the Greek expression “bayiri to kefali,” which translates to “a careless person who doesn’t think much or doesn’t care.”

Loonatiks Design Crew used this concept as inspiration to take a blackout poetry approach to the label. The resulting bottle’s hand-scrawled look and wax seal makes me imagine hanging out in the basement of an eccentric Mediterranean sommelier, scratching irrelevant details off a recommended bottle before corking and sealing it himself.
