L.O.L. Surprise! Packaging Gets an Eco-Friendly Makeover

L.O.L. Surprise!, a line of fashion-forward bug-eyed dolls, has become an international phenomenon, making MGA Entertainment the fastest-growing private toy company in the US. However, that popularity has come with an ecological cost—the dolls and accessories come not only encased in a signature ball made of plastic but with plenty of other itsy bitsy items also wrapped in plastic.

To be more environmentally conscience, MGA Entertainment has announced that it is transitioning away from plastic and turning to more sustainable materials like paper, bamboo, and sugar cane for its sphere-shaped packaging. L.O.L Suprise! will start with two new gardening-themed dolls, “Earthy B.B.” and “Grow Grrrl,” through an exclusive partnership with retailer Walmart, just in time for Earth Day.
