It’s 2023, a year in which the internet feels as though it’s existed for eons. We’re accustomed to its ways and memes. Some of us are even chained to it; it’s how we exist, connect, and make a living.
Unfortunately, we’re so used to it that the internet’s advertising model often fades into the abyss. We’re used to freely combing through social media platforms succumbing to blinking ads on the right-hand panel. Often, we ignore them, but they are the pinnacle of the digital age. They allow our favorite sites to consistently churn out content and keep it free for people like us to doom-scroll to our heart’s content (or misery—it’s debatable).
