As the FIFA Women’s World Cup kicks off in Australia and New Zealand, QSR chain McDonald’s is celebrating with what it’s describing as the first “Fry-Thru,” opening in Sydney.
Located in the FIFA Fan Festival in Tubalong Park, the Fry-Thru is five meters tall, about 16 feet, 5 inches, and modeled after McDonald’s iconic red french fry box stuffed with the brand’s signature side. The Fry-Thru resembles a box sitting on its back, and the rest of the pop-up comes surrounded with plenty of space to sit around and take pics in front of the temporary location to post on social media.
Unlike full-fledged outlets, this temporary Macca’s—a common nickname for the popular QSR chain in Australia—is not grilling up cheeseburgers, pouring “spicy” Sprite, or selling McFlurries. The only offerings on the menu are medium french fries with either one of two World Cup-inspired “international” sauces, Outback BBQ and Wasabi Mayo.
