Roja Doesn’t Have Time For Your Boring Old Ketchup

Published

There’s a shake-up in the ketchup space right now, and it’s not just about the packaging. We’re talking flavors. Big flavors. With flavors like Smoky Chipotle and Habanero, there’s no doubt in my mind that “plain” ketchup is about to be very old news.

Designed by My Graphic Lab, Roja is a conceptual brand with an identity that centers on a butterfly formed from two mirrored R forms, a quiet nod to migration and founder Sofia’s journey from her family’s tomato fields in Michoacán to her kitchen in London. The overall aesthetic draws on Mexican folk art and papel picado-style ornamentation. The chunky, western-tinged wordmark and arched label shape give the whole thing a vintage charm. Roja’s corked-glass silhouette and tomato-round cap make ketchup feel like something you’d proudly leave out on the table.
