Who doesn’t love when luxury chocolate brands have a little fun with their packaging? Fruzsi Fölföldi designed the illustrated packaging for Harlequin Chocolates. By combining animal-inspired illustrations with gold foiling and refined typography, the system showcases the assortment of flavors and the delectability of the dessert.
The labels of the chocolates are printed on natural textured recycled paper, the package is hand-packed and doesn’t contain plastic.
The logo is a classical logotype with the combination of the letters H and C, but it also refers to the shape of a harlequin ladybird. It meant to form a pleasing and notable contrast to the colourful organised chaos of the illustrations and to show elegance beside the playfulness.

As it is a small local Budapest based manufacturer producing high quality handcrafted chocolates, the main purpose of the brand design was to support a small start-up that brings sweets from natural ingredients to their customers. Therefore, the aim of the project was to create an elegant logotype combined with unique illustrations that stands out from the competitors, it is remarkable, and shows the diversity of the flavours and colourfulness of the chocolates. The illustrated labels contain many magical and whimsical characters and elements such as comets, teapots, squirrels, palm trees, pianos and even some salads. Every single illustration is referring to the name and flavours of the chocolates, and the package’s goal is to awaken the customer’s desire to want to collect them all.
