The Met x Junzi Year Of The Tiger Chili Oil Gift Box

We’re honored to work with The Met again this year to highlight their Asian Art collection and Year of the Tiger exhibition through a new commemorative chili oil gift box. Crafted by Chef Lucas Sin (Food & Wine’s Best New Chefs 2021) and handmade in small batches, each set comes with a pair of distinctive flavors. A perfect gift for Lunar New Year, this special set is presented in a commemorative gift box adorned with art curated through our collaboration with The Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Inspired by a pair of early 20th-century woodblock prints from The Met Asian Art collection: New Year Picture of Door God Zhao Gongming and the Shining Daoist Immortal, the gift box design seeks to give context in which traditional New Year woodblock prints are used: posted on the main entrance of homes, offering protection and prosperity to the families they guard.
This partnership between junzi and The Metropolitan Museum of Art began in 2020, bringing forth bold regional Chinese flavors through the local restaurant’s house-made chili oils.
Every purchase supports The Met's collection, study, conservation, and presentation of 5,000 years of art, while providing vital relief to NYC's Asian-owned small businesses impacted by COVID-19.
