15 Whiskey Package Designs

It was recently brought to my attention that whiskey and whisky aren’t the same things, and not in a PoTAYto/poTAHto kind of way. I always thought the different spellings of the dark golden beverage could get used interchangeably; similarly to when I want to sound more profound and mysterious, I’ll  throw in a “colour” instead of “color.”

Alas, the “e,” or lack thereof, between the “k” and the “y” signifies the origin of the drink. To make it easy for you, whisky is from Scotland, and whiskey is from Ireland. The American spelling is “whiskey,” and it’s thought to be this way due to a vast amount of Irish immigrants that set up their distilleries throughout the US. Interestingly enough, the Japanese spelling is “whisky” because two men studied Scotch whisky, inspiring the Japanese whisky movement. The more you know.

As it so happens, this Saturday happens to be World Whiskey Day. To celebrate the wooden barrel-aged spirit, we’ve rounded up some of our favorite whiskey packaging for you. Whether it’s a single malt, blended malt, single cask, or rye, they’re all included. Feast your eyes, and then celebrate; consider this your visual pregame.
