Major culture and societal shifting events can have the power to both hamper and inspire creativity. This year saw more than its share of impactful moments, from the massive fires in Australia, civil rights demonstrations in Hong Kong, months of ongoing and escalating violence in response to Black Lives Matter demonstrations across the US, and, of course, the global coronavirus pandemic. And there are still four more months to go.

Designers and creative professionals have not been immune to the effects of 2020’s biggest events, with teams and studios forced to disperse and adapt to working from home, having projects, campaigns, and conferences postponed, canceled, or shifted online. Such uncertainty can land some of mom’s spaghetti onto the Work-From-Home hoodie, but it can also serve as a lightning rod for inspiration, creating an opportunity to work on a passion project or even redefine business paradigms.

Putting the theme of “rethink everything” to the test, Neenah paired up Design Army with expert printers Studio on Fire to work together-remotely-to create packaging for the project that would draw the eye and invite touch. The duo created a maximalist designed package that features custom typography, fine line work, multiple dimensions, foil, and embossing, the result being an opulent example of packaging unencumbered by a lack of proximity.
