It's July So Of Course Hershey's Announces Their New Halloween Candies

Yes, it’s July, and it's sweltering. You're alone and self-isolated with nothing but a White Claw and your pals on Zoom. But the summer sun hasn’t stopped Pennsylvania confectioner Hershey’s from announcing new additions to its Halloween range.

New for 2020 includes fanged snack-size bars of Cookies ‘N’ Creme, which the candy maker describes as “perfect for a scary Halloween selfie,” and Vampire Kisses, classic chocolate drops filled with a dark red strawberry filling. The KIT KAT Witch's Brew replaces the chocolate with a sickly looking green crème, while Reese’s Franken-Cups keeps it mostly the same with classic milk chocolate and peanut butter cups that have an added layer of that weird green stuff. These new seasonal candies will join fan favorites like Reese’s peanut butter pumpkins, KIT KAT pumpkin pie, miniatures in glow-in-the-dark wrappers, and Monster Kisses this fall.

The new candies come packaged in fun Halloween-themed wrappers, with Kisses sporting a Dracula-like cape and a blue foil with red bats, a witch hovering over a cauldron full of KIT KATS, electric bolts zap Franken-Cups against Reese’s classic orange. The illustrations featured on the outer bags are modern and playful and on-theme, because duh.

Though we’ve gotten a glimpse of what new candies to expect come Halloween, it is still uncertain whether we’ll have a traditional Halloween, complete with the traditional door-to-door trick-or-treating, or a modified celebration due to COVID-19.

On the bright side, grown-ups can justify eating all the leftover candy by citing the pandemic this year.
