Plastic Change’s Latest Campaign is a Real Kick in the Nuts

  • Danish non-profit organization Plastic Change is back with another provocative campaign warning about the effects of microplastics on the human body.
  • Titled These Nuts May Contain Traces of Plastic, the campaign turns male testicles into a parody of nut packaging, listing the potential negative impacts of microplastics on male fertility.

After years of raising public awareness of the dangers of plastic pollution to the environment, some have begun using a different tactic: citing the growing body of research on the effects of microplastics on human health, especially the reproductive system.

Male infertility and impotence, in particular, have received a lot of attention. Earlier this year, Netflix released a documentary called The Plastic Detox, and last year, Danish non-profit Plastic Change launched the Are You Packing Microplastics? campaign aimed at male leaders meeting in Geneva for UN Global Plastics Treaty talks.
