Food and beverage designers have been loving a black-market approach. We’ve seen drug-inspired olive oil, hypothetical cheese dealers, and now an especially sleek mob-inspired wine from Austrian Wine Mafia.
While the recurrence of the underground concept is interesting to note, Lukas Diemling’s design for the wine is less illicit. Of course, the brand’s name alludes less to crime and more to playing by their own rules—or writing their own story, so to speak. The sunny yellow accents of this bottle actually take inspiration from book covers, with simple, stylishly old-fashioned serif text and a funky, slightly experimental logomark.
