The Dieline’s Best of May 2026

May is probably my favorite month. The anticipation of summer is here. The days are longer, but we’re still sitting between feeling warm and swamp-level humidity. Plus, the work that comes out during May is always exciting.

The stories that rose to the top ran the full spectrum. We saw Mirinda’s global rebrand and Olipop’s packaging refresh. There were heritage brands getting rebrands, like Bob’s Red Mill and Genesee, and designers using packaging as a canvas for psychedelia, illustration, and handcraft.

There were also curveballs, like a Calbee being stripped of all color by an ink shortage tied to the Iran war, and a $175.90 banana from The Ordinary. Not to mention, Starbucks is getting called out for recycling claims.
