Some observers say we’re having less sex, especially the young folks.
The trend is called sex recession, and there seems to be no singular cause. Cited factors include young people having more academic and career pressure and less time for sex, pornography, lack of coupling, unsatisfying and/or physically painful experiences with past partners, and body image-induced inhibition. The significant disruption in social interactions precipitated by the COVID pandemic is also certainly a factor, and the decline in bumping uglies was noted by Kate Julian in The Atlantic over a year before large gatherings came to a halt with social distancing protocols put in place.
