Amid fears of the spread of COVID-19, also known as the coronavirus, global coffee chain Starbucks will temporarily suspend serving beverages in customers’ personal cups. Starbucks will continue to honor their discount policy for bringing in a reusable vessel but will serve all drinks in paper and plastic single-use cups.
In an open letter, Rossann Williams, evp and president for US company-operated business and Canada for Starbucks, also announced that the company will restrict business-related travel for employees, increase the cleaning and sanitation of stores, and will modify or suspend large meetings. The announcement comes as COVID-19 cases and deaths increase in Washingon state, which has also affected e-commerce giant and Seattle-based company Amazon.
