Autonomous vehicles are so hot right now. Tesla cars feature Autopilot, which promises to drive your car for you. Waymo, a subsidy of Alphabet Inc., is starting a driverless car trial program in Phoenix. And of course, Autonomous navigation isn’t just limited to cars, as Amazon envisions a future where aerial drones delivering packages will be as commonplace as a mail truck.
While most of us will still have to wait for robot overloads to deliver our parcels, for students at University of the Pacific in Stockton, CA the future is now, thanks to PepsiCo and Robby Technologies’ Snackbot.
Students on the 175-acre campus can now order snacks and drinks from PepsiCo’s “Hello Goodness” portfolio which include SunChips, Pure Leaf ice tea, Starbucks cold brew, Baked Lays potato chips and more. Students get their munch on by placing an order via a smartphone app, and the snackbot can deliver to any of 50 locations on campus between 9 am to 5 pm (sorry, late-night cram seshes will have to be fueled the old fashioned way).
