‘Operation: US Healthcare Edition’ Is a Cruel Reminder of America’s Broken Healthcare System

Published

It’s no secret that the United States has a terrible and expensive healthcare system, and it’s the only country without a single-payer healthcare system among similarly developed nations. According to The Commonwealth Fund, a private foundation looking to establish a high-performing healthcare system, Americans spend more as a share of GDP and per person than other high-income nations. Moreover, life expectancy is lowest in the US, while deaths from treatable and avoidable conditions, maternal and infant mortality, and suicide rates are highest.

Ahead of World Health Day, copywriter Ted Masterson, art director Austin Warnick, and motion designer Ian Dickson created a parody of the classic board game Operation, highlighting the broken state of America’s healthcare system.
