Hawaii is a tropical archipelago deep in the pacific ocean, over 2,200 miles from California. While ocean plastic pollution affects everyone on the planet, it disproportionately impacts island communities. Recognizing the need to reduce plastic use, Hawaiian Airlines has partnered with canned water brand Mananalu to replace single-use plastic bottles served on flights.
Actor and environmental activist Jason Momoa came up with the idea for the brand as an epiphany while sitting on a plane. He noticed that drinks like soda, beer, and juice were in aluminum cans, but the airline served water in plastic bottles. This partnership with Hawaiian Airlines brings the Aquaman starâs concept full circle.
