Coca-Cola With Lemon Is Back for Folks That Hate Adding an Actual Slice of Lemon to Their Coke

In a throwback to the high fructose corn syrup cola with added lemon flavor wars of the early aughts, Coca-Cola is set to revive its lemon-flavored Coca-Cola. Stateside, the drink had been discontinued back in 2005, but apparently is still available in some Coca-Cola Freestyle dispensers, so get thee to an AMC Theater if you don’t feel like taking the easy way out, i.e., cutting a slice of lemon and dropping it into a glass of Coke.

The original Coca-Cola with lemon dropped in 2001 and was to compete with another lemon-squeezy cola courtesy of PepsiCo, Pepsi Twist. Since then, over the years, the drink has been taken in and out of circulation in various countries.

The re-released beverage is currently available in original taste and zero-sugar variants. Packaging follows the same non-Creations script, with a “Lemon” callout at the top of the can and a gradient going from Coke-red to yellow. Dead-center of the can, you’ll find a lemon wedge that resembles a meteoroid burning up as it enters Earth’s atmosphere.
