Clearstem Takes Inspiration From The Periodic Table

Acne is a vicious cycle. Brands prey on the emotional experience, offering solutions that obliterate your skin and provide a product experience that feels sterile and clinical to get the job done. Clearstem is different.

As one of the fastest growing American brands in acne care, Clearstem challenged our team to evolve towards a more skincare-led direction without designing a complete departure. An evolution that would communicate efficacy and increase clarity through a system that is rigorous, science-driven, and a touch premium, to give their audience a greater sense of quality, care, and navigation through good design.

The evolved design system takes inspiration from the periodic table, which speaks to the brand’s foundation in science. A modular and pragmatic “chart” clearly houses the product name, key benefits, and key ingredients in full transparency, and adapts across all kinds of products.

The product family is architected as a “Clear Skin System”, thoughtfully color coded to help consumers navigate between three distinct categories of needs: Prevent + Support (purple hues), Clear + Clarify (blues and greens), and Skin Perfecting (warmer tones).

A poppy yet soft palette brings positivity and warmth to a scientific-driven system, striking a balance between confident efficacy and human softness that lifts you up. The secondary packaging brings in bands of color blocks to boost that feeling, while maintaining organization and trust.

The result sits between skin care and beauty care, for a whole new way to experience acne care. Because clear skin changes everything.
