In 2020, Flavored Malt Beverage (FMB) Lytt debuted. The beverage, at the time, felt unique among FMBs because it was made with organic tea, the caffeine-containing guaranà, and monk fruit, all while clocking in at a reasonable 5% ABV.
Packaging for Lytt was typical aluminum cans, just like most hard teas in the category. Standard aluminum cans make it easier for retailers to stock Lytt among other hard seltzers, ciders, teas, beers, and premixed cocktails. Plus, aluminum is recycled at higher rates than glass or plastic bottles. According to a report by The Aluminum Association, an industry trade group, consumers recycle 43% of cans and 39.6% of glass bottles, but just 20% of PET plastic bottles.
