Buffalo Wings A La Mode? Van Leeuwen & Hidden Valley Ranch Have Just The Right Ice Cream

Ice cream flavors are out of control. We’re past sweet and savory and inclusions like crumbled potato chips or lavender. There’s even garlic ice cream, a staple at Gilroy, California’s previous annual festival for the stinky bulb, with plenty of recipes for facsimiles online.
More recently, we’ve had an escalation in savory ice cream flavors, including French’s and Grey Poupon mustard flavors, Miller Light dive bar-flavored ice cream bars, Jeni’s everything bagel ice cream, and Van Leeuwen and Kraft’s mac and cheese mashup.
Looking to raise the stakes even more, Van Leeuwen is back again with a wild partnership that brings ranch country to the freezer.
The new Hidden Valley Ranch and Van Leeuwen’s will get released to celebrate National Ranch Day this Friday, March 10th. The Hidden Valley Ranch ice cream is described as having the buttermilk and herb flavors of ranch dressing with a touch of sweetness.
Packaging for the new ranch-flavored ice cream takes strong cues from Hidden Valley’s sunkissed, farm field label design. A landscape similar to one found on Hidden Valley’s bottles wraps around the Van Leeuwen pints, topped with a bright blue sky dotted by fluffy, interspersed clouds.
“We know that Hidden Valley Ranch goes with just about everything—pizza, carrots, French fries—but ice cream is a first for us,” said Rachel Garrison, associate director at Hidden Valley Ranch, in a press release. “We are so excited to partner with Van Leeuwen, the expert in limited-edition, premium flavors, to bring together this creamy mix of savory and sweet. Insider tip? Top your scoops with crushed pretzels or potato chips for a perfect salty crunch.”
Van Leeuwen’s Hidden Valley Ranch ice cream will be available nationwide exclusively at 3,500 Walmart stores starting March 20th for a limited time.
