‘All Things Must Grass’ Marks First Beatle and Cannabis Collab

Published

After peaking in global popularity, members of the British rock group The Beatles eventually started to grow apart both artistically and personally. The band remained tenuously together until the end of 1969, with John, Paul, Ringo, and George going their separate ways, producing music as solo artists and in new bands.

George Harrison’s first post-Beatles album, All Things Must Pass, is still regarded as one of the best solo works by a member of the Fab Four. On the 50th anniversary of its release, the Geroge Harrison estate has collaborated with cannabis brand Dad Grass on All Things Must Grass, a line of CBD/CBG joints, smoking accessories, and merchandise; it’s also the first Beatle partnership with a cannabis brand.

Staying true to the Dad Grass ethos, the limited-edition release starts with an honorary dad-level pun. As per usual with the brand, the packaging comes designed to hide in plain sight as everyday “dad” items, specifically as cassette copies of All Things Must Pass, featuring the album’s iconic cover. The pack of joints gets covered in what looks like a cassette sleeve, and the back even has track listings for the double album. There are subtle clues that these are joints, like “Grass” replacing “Pass” and a producer credit for Dad Grass on the back. The flip-top joint box features George Harrison’s signature, one of the album cover’s garden gnomes, and “Let It Roll” on the front. Finally, the top’s front proclaims “Low Dose, Full Toke. Like George Used To Smoke,” a nod to weed of a different time and age that was far less potent and mellower. Copy in the back includes references to Harrison’s work, like no “wah-wahs” and 100% “hallelujah.”

Accompanying merchandise includes rolling papers featuring Harrison in a style reminiscent of Zig-Zag’s classic packaging, the matches featuring the same toking gnome on the box, and more references to The Ballad of Sir Frankie Crisp. The rolling tray uses the same portrait of Harrison surrounded by prayer beads. Finally, the merch line also includes buttons featuring the same graphics and elements as the rest of the collection.

“We’d like to think that if George was still ‘drinking his tea’ today, he’d shy away from the high test blow-your-mind weed that the kids are into and opt for something mellower, something like the specially blended CBD + CBG hemp joints we’ve rolled up in his honor,” said Ben Starmer, co-founder and CEO of Dad Grass, in a press release.

All Things Must Grass is available now from select retailers and shipped across the country from DadGrass.com
